Hearthaven Home Care is a Michigan provider agency, formally enrolled with MDHHS and CHAMPS. We hire and train the caregiver your family already trusts — often a spouse's relative, adult child, sibling, or close friend — as a paid employee, and we handle the entire enrollment process for you.
Hearthaven Home Care was founded to close a gap we kept seeing across Metro Detroit: families who qualify for Michigan's Home Help Program but get lost in the paperwork, and family caregivers who deserve to be paid fairly for the care they're already providing. As an MDHHS and CHAMPS-enrolled provider agency, we manage the entire process — the assessment, the enrollment, the payroll, and the ongoing care — so your family can focus on what matters.
Michigan's MDHHS Home Help Program lets a Medicaid-eligible person choose their own caregiver, including many family members. How that caregiver gets paid depends on who employs them.
As an MDHHS-enrolled provider agency, Hearthaven bills Medicaid directly at Michigan's 2026 agency provider rate and passes a substantial share of it to the caregiver we employ — up to $23 per hour, depending on role, experience, and approved hours.
Under Michigan's self-direction option, the Medicaid recipient is the employer of record and a Fiscal Intermediary processes payroll. This is Michigan's statewide 2026 individual caregiver rate, per MDHHS Adult Services Bulletin ASB 2026-002.
Figures reflect Michigan Department of Health and Human Services Adult Services Bulletin ASB 2026-002, effective January 1, 2026: the individual (self-directed) caregiver rate is $17.13/hour ($13.73 base + $3.40 pass-through), and the Home Help agency provider rate is $27.00/hour ($23.60 + $3.40 pass-through) — the amount Medicaid pays a provider agency per hour of approved care. Hearthaven's employee caregiver pay of up to $23/hour is Hearthaven's own compensation practice as the employer, not a state-guaranteed wage, and can vary by role, experience, and approved care hours. See our full pay breakdown for details.
