Hearthaven Home Care is a Michigan MDHHS and CHAMPS-enrolled provider agency based in Allen Park, serving families across Wayne, Macomb, and Oakland County.
Hearthaven Home Care started with a simple, frustrating discovery: Michigan already has a program that pays family caregivers to care for the people they love, but almost nobody explains it clearly, and applying alone can take months of phone calls, forms, and guesswork.
We built Hearthaven to be the team that stands between your family and that confusion. As a provider agency — not a fiscal intermediary — we're formally enrolled with the Michigan Department of Health and Human Services (MDHHS) and its CHAMPS provider system. That means we can employ the caregiver your family chooses directly, handle the Medicaid billing ourselves, and support both MDHHS Home Help Program clients and families paying privately for care.
Every caregiver who joins our team — including family members hired to care for their own loved one — goes through a background check and a skilled-nurse intake evaluation before care begins. It's more upfront work than some agencies do, and we think it's exactly why families trust us with something this personal.
Madona founded Hearthaven Home Care to give Metro Detroit families a provider agency that treats the MDHHS Home Help Program the way it should be treated — as a real opportunity for families, not a maze. She oversees Hearthaven's MDHHS and CHAMPS enrollment, agency compliance, and the day-to-day relationships with the families and caregivers Hearthaven serves.
Home care in Michigan generally works one of two ways, and the difference matters for who signs the paperwork and who processes the pay.
MDHHS approves the agency itself as the care provider. Hearthaven employs the caregiver — who can be your own family member — and bills Medicaid directly. We carry the compliance responsibility, run background checks, and manage payroll and EVV.
The Medicaid recipient is technically the employer of their own chosen caregiver, and a Fiscal Intermediary simply processes payroll and tax paperwork on their behalf. The FI does not provide oversight of the care itself.
Both are legitimate paths to paid family caregiving in Michigan, and which one fits your family depends on how much oversight, payroll handling, and care coordination you want built in. We're happy to walk through both during a free consultation, even if the answer for your family turns out to be self-direction rather than Hearthaven.
Every caregiver we place treats your family member with dignity — never rushed, never routine.
Your family's health and financial information stays confidential, always, with every party we work with.
MDHHS applications, CHAMPS enrollment, and EVV setup are handled by our team, not left on your kitchen table.
We check in after care starts and adjust as needs change — we don't disappear once the paperwork is filed.
Background checks and a skilled-nurse intake evaluation for every caregiver before they start, family or not.
Based in Allen Park, serving Wayne, Macomb and Oakland County directly — you'll always know who's answering the phone.
